Photographer brings Banksy works to life

Photographer brings Banksy works to life:
Famous Banksy works have been brought to life by photographer, Nick Stern. The incredibly accurate images, featuring the kissing policeman, girl holding a bomb and a caveman holding a McDonald’s meal (we think it’s a Big Mac) pay homage to street art’s favourite anarchist in a collection entitled: ‘YOU ARE NOT BANKSY.’
We also caught up with the photographer to get a brief outline on how the idea for the collection was concocted.
Enjoy…

What inspired the idea to do this project?
The project was initially inspired by the riots back in London last summer. I was shooting a friend (an actor in LA) and wanted to get some shots of him in a Black hoodie looking like an anarchist, this gave me the idea of shooting the flower thrower. I then wondered if it would be possible to recreate other works of Banksy’s to see how close to the originals I could get them.

What do you think Banksy has done for public space and street art?
I think Banksy has done a hugely positive thing for art and public space. He’s taken art out of the stuffy, silent, elitist galleries and and shown that it can be for everyone to enjoy.

Are the photographs available for sale and if so, where?
